Pickleball

Is there a pickleball skill level requirement for your tours?

No, we welcome anyone from novice to advanced players.

Is there an age or fitness requirement?

No age requirement. Our trips are active, and each tour page shows how active that trip is so you can pick one that suits you.

Who are your coaches?

All of our instructors are professional coaches, and we personally train every member of our team in how we teach.

How much pickleball will we be playing?

It varies by trip. Each tour page shows how much time is on court, with the rest of the day spent on walking tours, hikes and other cultural and local events.

Can my non-pickleball-playing travel partner join?

Yes! Non-players are very welcome, and they pay a reduced rate. To see it, choose “No” under “Will you be playing pickleball?” on the tour page.

What happens if it rains?

We use a mix of venues and keep a flexible schedule, so we’ll rearrange activities whenever possible.

Travel and Stay

How many people will be on my tour?

We keep our groups small to ensure a personal, high-quality experience, so we can spend real time with each guest and help them improve their game.

Who will lead my trip?

We typically finalize our guides about three to six months before departure. Once they’re set, you’ll find them on the tour page.

Will there be other singles or solo travelers?

Yes! Solo travelers join us on almost every trip. If you’d like to share a room, we’ll try to pair you with another solo traveler who is open to sharing, though we can’t guarantee a match. If there isn’t one, the single occupancy price applies.

Can I have my own room?

Yes, single rooms are available on almost all of our tours. Choose Single Occupancy on the tour page to see the price.

What are the accommodations like on tours?

We stay in well-located hotels, and each tour page shows where you’ll stay. If you’re organizing a private or custom tour, you can ask for higher-end or more budget-friendly options, and we’ll adjust the price to match.

What’s included in the price?

Each tour page lists exactly what’s included. On most trips that covers your hotels, most meals, pickleball clinics and court fees, group activities and getting around during the tour. International airfare, travel insurance and alcohol aren’t included, and airport transfers vary by trip.

Do I need to tip?

We tip the local guides, drivers and crews we book at the standard local rate, so you don’t need to. If someone goes above and beyond, you’re welcome to tip them too. Tips for your Pickleball Trips hosts are always appreciated but never expected. Tips at our group meals are covered. At meals on your own, follow the local custom.

Can you accommodate food allergies or dietary needs?

Yes. Please list any allergies or dietary needs on your registration and liability form. On some trips meals are served family-style, so we may suggest ordering separately.

Will I be picked up from the airport upon arrival?

Each of our trips is a little bit different. On some we arrange airport pickups, and on others we meet at the first hotel. The first day of the itinerary on each tour page shows which. If you are nervous about venturing out on your own, we will do our best to connect you with other travelers or even a guide, and we will always send detailed, step-by-step instructions before you go.

Do you recommend arriving before the designated start date of a tour?

If you can! Not only is building in a little cushion in case of travel hiccups a good idea, but it’s also really nice to get a head start on jet lag. That being said, we understand not everyone has the flexibility or feels comfortable arriving early. We officially kick off the tour with dinner on the first evening.

Can I add extra nights before or after my trip?

Yes. Once you’ve booked, open your booking in My Account and request the nights you’d like, up to 45 days before departure. Nothing is charged until the hotel confirms, and then we’ll email you a link to pay within 7 days. You can add, change or remove extra nights in your account until 45 days before the trip, and any paid nights you remove are refunded to your card. Within 45 days, paid nights are refunded only if the hotel releases them at no charge. If your trip doesn’t offer extra nights online, email guest@pickleballtrips.com and we’ll arrange them through our local partner, at your own cost.

How will we stay in touch before and during the trip?

Before departure we hold group calls to walk through the itinerary, packing, money and logistics, and we set up a WhatsApp group for your trip in the days before you leave. To make sure our emails reach you, please save guest@pickleballtrips.com to your contacts.

Will I have a chance to do laundry during my trip?

While each destination is different, there will be an opportunity to do laundry on most if not all of our trips. If you’d like to know what’s available on your trip before you pack, just ask us.

What should I pack?

Here’s a helpful little hint on packing: if you can’t lift it over your head, you might have overpacked! Small trinkets that represent your country or culture are always appreciated by locals as well.

Payments and Cancellations

Are your prices in US dollars?

Yes. Every price on our website is in US dollars, whatever the destination.

Do you offer a discount for returning guests?

Yes! Returning guests receive a discount on their next trip. Contact us and we’ll send you the code.

Can you run a trip just for our group?

Yes. A private group trip is one we run for a group that books the entire departure, rather than a public departure that travelers join a few spots at a time. See our Private Groups page to get started.

The trip I want isn’t open yet, or my date is full. Can I still get in?

Yes. If a trip isn’t open for booking yet, we’re finalizing the details with our local partners. Contact us and we’ll hold a spot for you and let you know as soon as it opens.

If a date is completely full, contact us and we’ll point you to another departure of the same trip, or note your name and let you know first if a spot opens.

When are payments due?

You pay a 20% deposit when you book. 40% of the total is due 180 days before departure, and the final 40% is due 90 days before departure. You can see your exact dates on the tour page once you choose a date.

Is my trip confirmed? When should I book my flights?

Please hold off on booking your airfare until you receive our “Trip Is Confirmed” email. If we have to cancel a tour because not enough travelers book or we can’t staff it, we’ll give you a full refund.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Our 20% deposit is non-refundable, but it is 100% transferable to any future Pickleball Trips tour. Beyond that, your refund depends on how far ahead you cancel:

  • 91+ days before the start date: full refund minus the 20% deposit
  • 61–90 days: 50% refund of the total trip cost
  • 31–60 days: 25% refund of the total trip cost
  • 0–30 days: no refund (your 20% deposit is still transferable)

We strongly recommend travel insurance, and we’re happy to provide any documents your insurer needs.

Can I change my booking after I book?

Changes to your room type, number of nights, itinerary or travelers can’t be made within 45 days of departure. Before that, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend it. Our 20% deposit is non-refundable and refunds get smaller as the trip gets closer, so travel insurance is the best way to protect what you’ve paid. It can also help if you need to change a flight, lose a bag or need medical care during the trip.

You can compare plans from many insurers side by side on Squaremouth and choose the one that fits you best. Their team can answer any questions about what each plan covers. It’s best to look soon after you book, since some benefits depend on when you buy.
